0:02 Who are you? And [music] where are you going? What [music] do you want?

0:20 >> [laughter]

0:22 >> You know, technology is a beautiful thing when it works. So, hello and welcome to People Making Money. I'm your host, Kevin Bemmel. And today, I am with my two colleagues, John Rubino, henceforth known as John, and John Clark, henceforth known as JC. And we're kicking off a mini-series called Money in Motion. So, for those of you who are regular watchers of the show, you know I've been doing three subjects in repertory. I've been talking about job hunting and being an employee, starting and running a

0:57 business, and building wealth. So, this mini-series is going to focus on the third one of those topics. And this was actually the brainchild of John, who I've known for a long, long time. He's a Navy colleague of mine, Navy buddy of mine. And by the way, if if you if you want I know where most of the bodies are buried. We can talk about that offline over some bourbon.

1:20 >> [laughter]

1:22 >> I don't have the same kind of dirt on on JC. But, this is an opportunity to bring to you quite literally almost a century of experience in investing, in helping people build wealth, secure their legacy. And that really is is why we're doing this this this particular mini-series. So, this is kind of a this is a new thing for People Making Money. And you know, really really hope that this will have the kind of impact that will help you take your

2:00 finances to the next level. So, with without further ado, I want to give a couple of at least a couple of minutes each to my uh co-presenters and so that they can tell you a little bit about their background and and and how they see uh things shaping up as well. So, so John, why don't you go why don't you go first?

2:20 >> Sure, Kevin. It's great to be here. I mean, listen, this is awesome. We've got such uh excitement. We've got a lot of energy in this group and we really want to transfer that out to folks that just uh want to grow their wealth. They want to leave a legacy. They want to understand what's available to them in the investment world. And we're going to do that over a uh seven-episode series and we're really excited. We bring a lot of skills and expertise to the table, but also a lot of passion and a lot of excitement. So, it's just great to be here. Uh many moons ago when I had a lot more hair on my head, I uh started out investing in real estate and uh it it

2:56 was just uh from day one it was just an exciting journey. I was just so happy to be involved and be involved with meeting new people, building relationships while I still served. And so, you know, fast forward to, you know, May 6th, 2026 and I've had the uh the luxury and the honor and the privilege to work with uh investors that range from accredited investors, high-net-worth individuals, business owners, independently wealthy folks that just want to grow their wealth through uh um different diverse vehicles, whether it's passive real estate, alternative investments, uh

3:33 traditional investments. So, we're going to really cover an array of that today. Um I've been here with my family for the last 16 years in northern Virginia, right outside Washington, D.C. Got four kids. And uh I am just so excited to be here and uh looking forward to just enjoying the next couple of uh episodes and time with the folks we're going to talk to and share with and hopefully share our expertise, our knowledge, and experiences. And uh quite often, I'm really excited to learn about what you guys have been doing, too, and get a better sense of what you bring because I know you guys are are wicked smart. When

4:08 I hear almost a century of experience between the three of us, it's like, "Wow, uh we're old, but we know what we're doing." So.

4:15 >> You [laughter] speak for yourself, John.

4:17 >> Exactly. I'm going to kick it over to my buddy, John Clark.

4:20 >> Yeah, you you you you got a couple of things wrong there. We may be wicked, I don't know if we're smart, but you

4:27 >> [laughter]

4:27 >> But but you know, you know, as the junior partner, you do not get to claim the title old, okay?

4:34 >> Oh, there you go.

4:34 >> You [laughter] you're at best middle aged, so.

4:37 >> That's right.

4:38 >> There you go. There you go.

4:39 >> Just because you're follicle challenged, doesn't mean you're going to take my identity away from

4:43 >> I'm going to take a lot of that. I'm going to take a lot of that over the next couple of weeks with you guys. But over to my buddy, [laughter] John Clark. Go for it, Johnny.

4:50 >> So so so yeah.

4:53 >> Thank you so much. I appreciate it, guys. You you you crazy bunch of guys here. That's fun. We love that Like John said, we got energy, we have passion, and really I think one of main things we have in common, besides maybe variety of expertise that we overlap in, is a passion for helping people. And that's come out in the conversations that we've already had. I think you're going to see that and feel that. We hope you do through this podcast and through the TV mini-series that we're doing. We hope that you get to feel the passion that we have for helping people, the care that we have for each other, and the jokes, as well as the expertise

5:28 that we can hopefully provide you. You know, we want to we want to be there to help you with strategy, system, infrastructure, and frankly, maybe additional bandwidth is needed. Maybe you have a lot of the game put together, but you really could use the extra help. We're here to help, we're here to advise, we're here to equip. And my background is is diverse across several different industries, but I've been financial services for over 32 years and growing. I happen to be privileged, as John said, and honored to be a part of this group, as well as, you know, leading several different companies to propel

6:03 this message and support and equip people across the nation, mostly in the United States. I'm a father of four children and a grandfather of five and a husband of one. But thank you guys for that time. Looking forward to it.

6:23 >> Okay, you guys put me to shame. You got eight kids between you and I've got one.

6:28 >> [laughter]

6:29 >> I don't know. Well, so because this is not literally a standalone mini-series, but but it is it is kind of a piece apart. So, one of the start out, especially because we're going to be drawing viewers, I think, from from all of our networks and and talk about what is the foundation for all of the Way to Wow shows, which Well, that's interesting. It changed how it's doing it. Which which is the three pillars of attainment. So,

7:05 when I started these shows going back now about 7 years ago, I was looking for how do I help people understand the various facets of our lives and put it together into some system, JC. You used a few minutes ago. It is that that's kind of the key into a system for for understanding how the parts work together. So, the three pillars of attainment was actually something that that evolved from a resiliency program I developed when I

7:41 was a chaplain in the United States Navy. And over over the years, this is what it's come to be. So, you've got You've really got three pillars. One is is self, which is our our our identity, our health, our mindset. It's It's inward-focused.

7:56 >> Mhm.

7:56 >> And then we have relationships. And our relationships really come down to family, friends, and God. Uh now, I know not everybody believes in in God. That's fine. Whatever you might plug in here, or maybe you would just leave that one out. And then pursuits. These are the things that we do. Right? And And these two parts down here are outward-looking. When we're building relationships, we're looking outside of ourselves to connect with other people, to connect with friends, family members, colleagues, etc. Pursuits are those things that we're

8:31 doing. They They do benefit us, but they're also having an impact typically on other people. So, this particular mini series is going to be focused on finances, of course. But I think you'll hear throughout the mini series that much of finances has in its foundation relationships, and how we view ourselves. And this one I think is sometimes gets overlooked. And I I stress this in in all of the Way to Wow shows, but especially in people making

9:07 money. How I define success is probably very different than how John and JC define success, even though, you know, this is the the environment that we inhabit. Right? So, fundamental to knowing what you want to pursue here is understanding who you are and what you want out of life. And that that is as important a component as knowing how to get there. Because if If don't know what the objective is, you never reach it. Right? So, that's why I wanted us to just start out with this so so we all had a sense

9:43 of this.

9:44 >> Yeah, Kev, can I just mention to you, I mean, like that that is so important because um we run in 25,000 different directions sometimes and we don't have a a basis and just being able to sit down and and um you know, with your favorite glass of bourbon or coffee or whatever your you know, soup du jour is there or drink du jour, you know, sitting down and understanding what do you want out of life and and really what's going to make you genuinely happy. And it's not going to be, you know, having having uh every every dollar in the world. That won't make you happy. I guarantee you. You'll be happy for a

10:20 minute, but knowing your mindset, knowing what's going to bring you true joy in life, whether it's your family, your faith, your community, and then that's your target. And then everything is kind of center That's the center and everything kind of moves around that. So, I think that self is so important. And again, you can't get there by yourself, right? Relationships is so important, who you're meeting, who you could help, and also who can help you. And then what's your goals and your pursuits, like you said. So, this is such a great triangle there that pillars that uh I think a lot of folks need to just sit back and and look at this and

10:55 really take the time to to assess where they're at in each area.

11:00 >> You know, I think it's also interesting, guys, that what I find in life is when you encounter somebody uh when you you know, when you cross several people's paths, you encounter certain people where you go, "Wow, they seem solid. They seem set. They seem confident. They seem assured. They know what they're doing. They're they're at peace no matter what's happening around them. Uh they're passionate about what they are doing." If at any time you question them about why are you doing this or what are you doing or how are you doing it or how did you make that decision, the people that really know and are at

11:35 rest in their in their heart and in their mind but active with their body and with their learning. Like you said, Kevin, your learning is one of those external things. As you take in, it comes out, right? You impact others. And I think when we meet those people, you notice the difference. They're they're just at a certain place and and for my wife and I, it was very important that we had these three things really set with us because when you're making decisions, whether it's a partnership in business or it's a husband and wife, which is still a partnership, or even if you're not married and you're not in

12:10 business with a person, just for you to have clarity of purpose, passion, and plan gives you that ability to make decisions on an ongoing set of variables very clearly and a lot more efficiently because you understand who you are, you know how it impacts the world around you, and you understand who's impacting you, all the while knowing why you're doing something. And when those things are set, it's much easier to move forward.

12:39 >> Absolutely.

12:40 >> And it's it's you know, I appreciate you mentioning your wife in this because I in the back of my mind thinking if I if I ask him this question, he may feel like I'm, you know, throwing him under the bus. And by the way, I will periodically during this mini series throw both of you guys under the bus by, you know, side swiping you with a question.

13:00 >> I think I hear it backing up right now.

13:02 >> [laughter]

13:02 >> But but you know, all joking aside, a 37-year marriage does not happen by accident. So so JC, you're doing something that sustains that relationship. And I think for all of our viewers who are married, um you'll I would I would ask you to bring that perspective into the things that we talk about because it is so easy to uh I don't know, overlook our spouses,

13:37 especially if they don't particularly want to be involved in financial decisions or they don't they're not they don't like it or they're not interested they have other things or they're busy over here or there or whatever. I think we need to remember that we don't we don't live in isolation, especially I'm I'm I'm also the single guy here. Both of you are married, but I think I really hope that we'll bring that perspective as well in into this into this mini-series.

14:04 >> Absolutely.

14:05 >> Yeah.

14:06 >> Well, that's what I love about your pillar there at the bottom. It's labeled external, right? As one of the three sides. And I I felt really energized by what you said in the beginning, Kevin, when you were talking about how what what we do affects other people. Most people think play, you know, I read play on there and I'm like, "My play affects other people?" But it doesn't take too long or too much deep thought to realize, "Oh, yeah, I guess I am impacting other people." Maybe I'm going too fast in a no wake zone in my boat or something. My play is impacting, you know, the people who have

14:41 a house at shore, right? And like, "Man, will that guy slow down?" I'm not saying I'm doing that, but I'm just using it as a play example, right? Or our learnings That's what really is cool about this program is we are learning while we're giving out our own things that we have learned. And we're learning about people and then we're able to apply what we've already learned in principle and in pattern to maybe what they're trying to learn from us. And so it's an external exchange. And yet, like you say, that family foundation or if you're single, you still have a family you came from or maybe you're single because you used to be married, you might have children or,

15:17 you know, in every culture is different, but it I will say that having this core foundation of who you are, how others are impacted, what others matter to you, and why you do what you do. If you have that understanding, there's really nothing more important, and it's a foundation you can return to anytime you're questioning my next step forward.

15:40 >> Yeah. I I you know, it's funny. I I thought where you were going to go with play is like how does it affect other people? I think the primary way it affects other people is when we don't take some time to play.

15:51 >> Mhm.

15:52 >> And we're we become such a, you know, such a burden on our families could we get we we burn ourselves out.

15:59 >> Mhm.

16:00 >> You know, and and now all of a sudden, um you know, it it life

16:05 >> Things get tense.

16:06 >> Yeah. Yeah.

16:07 >> Yeah.

16:08 >> Absolutely. All right. So so this is this is one of our foundational elements. The other one uh is is actually a concept that John Rubino know, um Hang on a second. I don't know why I did that.

16:22 >> Yeah.

16:23 >> Um that John John developed. And John, why don't you talk about this this wealth pyramid here?

16:30 >> Yeah.

16:31 >> And and kind of explain how this works.

16:33 >> Absolutely. And I I want you guys to jump in, and I hope that as folks go through this, a lot of questions go on in their minds and things that they want to chat about. But to me, this epitomizes the the start, you know, so after you go Kevin's through Kevin's pillars to identify your your mindset, where you are personally, who are the people out there that you know, you want to build relationships with, who can help you in your journey, and who you can help. And then the pursuit of your objectives, you have to start financially with the foundation, right? What's your foundations? And we're going to jump into this a little more in

17:08 detail in our first episode when we talk about the foundations of wealth and the accelerators of wealth. But when you look at this pyramid, it's really about you and taking care of yourself, right? Sitting down and spending 1 2 3 hours a day where you're you're time blocking and you're sitting down and seeing where you are financially. And it all starts with where you are when it comes to your understanding of of investing and financials to the awareness of what's going on in the in the environment and in the markets.

17:43 Having a savings plan. Really, a lot of people that I talk to that are extremely wealthy don't have a savings plan. And so, right away when when unfortunately something happens, they're like, "Oh, I got to pull money into this account or that account." You know, start with the basics. And that foundation that you want to start with is having that education, having that awareness, having that savings plan. I talked to so many people that want to jump up to the top and start investing, but then we find out there's no savings. When we get into that second tier of the pillar, there's no there's debt, you know, student loan debt unfortunately or

18:18 credit card debt or car debt. You know, we want to we want to take care of ourselves first. We want to keep more money that's coming in and our pockets instead of going out to the bank or the debt collectors or, you know, wherever it's going outside of where you are. So, the first step is awareness, education, getting yourself in place with some solid savings in case of a rainy day or for 6 to 12 months of worth of income. The next one up is how do I protect that income, which is the insurance part, right? How do I keep more money in my pocket? How do I get rid of that debt? So, that's the second tier up in our foundations of wealth. The third gets

18:53 into Kevin's world. And Kevin, I'd love for you to jump in and share how important this is and you're going to talk more about this, but estate planning, taking care of your your assets as you grow them, how do we protect those assets so that no one else can come in and dip their hand in there or if God forbid something happens, you get into what Kevin's world is like probate or dealing with attorneys that are now taking over the estate. So, we want to protect those assets. And those are all

19:20 >> Hey, by the way, is Kevin's world is Kevin's world any different than Wayne's World? Just the one thing.

19:26 >> [laughter]

19:27 >> Yeah, exactly. He doesn't have the really long hair.

19:30 >> It's very diff- it's very, very different. You will not see, you know, scantily clad women running around, you know, anywhere in my

19:38 >> The choir's in the background. Right, yeah.

19:41 >> [laughter]

19:42 >> I I I can't agree more. But no, it's it's it's a good point, you know, Kevin's world is very important because as you grow the income and you protect the income, now it's protecting assets. And so, that's the real three-pronged approach there in the foundations of wealth that then allows us to go up to the next tier, which is the fact of the accelerators of wealth. That's where we have fun. Where we identify

20:05 >> Yeah, where's where's my cash flow coming from? Where's the hamsters running on the wheel that's just popping out income and wealth for me while I'm sleeping, while I'm working, while I'm spending time with my family. So, we identify those cash flow managements through a little little tool I have called the Ridge, retirement income generation exercise, where I actually sit down and I show folks, "What's that number you want when you wake up every day and you say, 'I'm not going to do anything today. I'm just going to stay in bed. I'm going to watch a movie. I'm going to go hang out with the family because I know $12,000 is coming in every month and that's what I need to be happy and live on and I don't have to

20:40 worry about anything else.' And then we reverse engineer that. How do we have that 12,000 coming to to to where it's at with social security, pensions, business income? So, we look at that and then we get into the fun part, which we'll talk about as investment, traditional investments, alternative investments, which eventually will lead us to financial freedom. So, this to me is taking care of your house and then getting into the fun part of the of the side of the world that we're going to talk about throughout the next couple of episodes.

21:07 >> So, John or Kevin, go ahead. Go ahead.

21:10 >> I mean, just jump in a minute.

21:11 >> Yeah.

21:12 >> A friend of mine asked me to speak to a friend of his on couple days ago, I think it was. Um I young guy, married, no kids yet. Uh he's a real estate agent, real estate broker, and he's he and his wife had bought a couple of properties. They're kind of building, you know, a portfolio. Um but he's gone to the point where he needs to bring in additional cash to make additional investments. So, the first thing I asked him is, "Okay, well what what is what is it you're trying to accomplish? What is your end goal? And

21:47 and what is your strategy?" And unfortunately, he couldn't answer any of those questions.

21:52 >> Yeah.

21:53 >> And so, you know, he's the reason for the introduction was, you know, because I have a multi-family office, I have I always have clients who are looking for investments, right? So, on the face of it, having someone who's out there in the marketplace looking for good investments, that's somebody I want to meet because they may have something that we could partner on, right? But

22:14 >> Yeah.

22:15 >> he didn't have his foundation set. And I encourage I said I I I encourage you to think about these things because as you meet or introduced to more people like me, you're going to get these same questions over and over again.

22:31 >> Right.

22:31 >> Because the people who have the money the kind of wealth that they would partner with you, they may have gotten lucky, but if they still have it, either they or someone has helped them understand just what you're presenting here.

22:47 >> Yeah, absolutely. And and a big part of this Kevin is having that board of directors, that that group or that team that is part of this because they're going to do their job and their service to help you. So, you need a financial advisor and a planner, you need a CPA, right, accountant, you need tax strategist, you need an estate planning attorney or estate planning advisor. And we're going to help with that. We're going to We're going to identify those positions, and then we've got a great network, and and we know the right people to go to. John, you know, is is

23:22 going to help you with a lot of the things that you're looking at when it comes to purchasing a home or understanding how to use your your capital, your wealth in ways that you're not you know, you've never maybe even thought of before, but you got to start with the basics. And it's not exciting, it's boring, but that's okay, because once you get the boring out of the way, and it's taken care of, now it's like, "Hey, let's go have fun."

23:44 >> I I I just agree with you. I don't think it's boring. I think

23:48 >> I don't either.

23:49 >> I No, no, I I don't mean because I'm involved in it. I think for the typical person, it's not boring, it's exciting, because

23:57 >> Yeah.

23:57 >> it's understanding what's possible in our lives.

24:01 >> Sure.

24:01 >> And what what their life can be, how their how they can grow, not just financially, but how they can grow as people, as relationships, kind of like what we were talking before. And I think that that is the real that is the exciting part. A lot of the investing strategy, it's like, "Okay, you know, speak to a 100 people who have potential investments, you know, sift it down to 10 for the one that you're actually going to do." To me, that's kind of more boring than really figuring out, "Look, we One of

24:37 the great things about living in the United States is we have the ability to craft our lives. Everybody does, right, if we want to take advantage of that." And and that that is exciting, and and I So, you know, I I I think

24:55 >> Can I Let me interject a thought here, because I think this is going to tie this all together. I I think with the excite Where it might there we went out for a second there. We're back. So I think the difference between boring and exciting is what we've actually been talking about we hope. So let me pinpoint the difference is it's boring to do addition and subtraction and to take care of basics if there is no plan, there is no support and I have a wish and I have a desire but I have no goal, I have no plan and I don't know how to get there and I can't

25:30 explain it to anybody like you you gave that example. But the difference between boring and excitement even doing the similar actions is two simple things. Having a plan People like formulas, they like a plan, they like a map, they like to know I'm doing this cuz it's going to get me to the next stage. The way John broke down this pyramid was levels. He described them as levels. 1 2 3 and 4. Right that idea of I'm progressing. Now I would agree when you have a plan and you have a an advisor, a partner, a teammate, you have you've built a team around you.

26:06 They don't have to be owners of your business or even your goal but they can be supportive to it like John hinted we have all these connections us three on this call could be a vibrant part of helping you form a wise team of counsel around you. When you have counsel and you have a map and you have a plan now what was boring because you didn't see where it was taking you is now exciting because now you know I'm checking these what I look at the bottom two levels there they're pluses and minuses. I'm minusing my debt and I'm plussing my savings account, right? But then where it gets really exciting is I now know

26:42 I'm excited the whole time. I agree with what Kevin's saying now that I have a plan and I have support. But I'm really excited as I'm progressing the excitement grows. I'm walking down this I'm checking off list. I'm accomplishing task. I'm progressing towards where I want to be. All the while, hopefully we're settled with who we are based on the initial pyramid we talked about.

27:06 >> Right.

27:07 >> But then we're But then we get to the acceleration and things move faster, but we're ready for it because we've been preparing and building. We have our foundation set. Now we're not scared of the speed. We're actually motivated and further excited. As we're accelerating, or the word I usually use is multiplication. We get out of addition and subtraction and we see things multiplying.

27:33 >> Right.

27:33 >> And then we have the residuals.

27:35 >> Yeah, and and I think that's a good That's a good point to wrap [clears throat] up on. Oh, that's the point to That was weird.

27:48 >> We got you.

27:49 >> [laughter]

27:50 >> to I think to wrap up on for this introductory episode. Uh so, let's just uh

27:55 >> Kevin, before you do that, let me just say one thing cuz I want to capitalize on what John said. The The excitement that you have, the passion, the joy, believe it or not, of looking at a budget and seeing money is coming in more so on the asset column on your network statement, the things that you're building that we're going to help you with. It gets you excited and then what does excitement turn into? Confidence. The confidence then allows you to move forward knowing the plan. You know the next tier. You're excited. You're working with folks. They're helping you. You're helping them cuz it's mutual, right? Reciprocation. That excitement

28:32 turns into confidence and trust, not only yourself, but with your team. And that becomes the full holistic life cycle of success that takes you from income to wealth to legacy, which is what we want to focus on.

28:46 >> Right. So, real quickly, like like like we've got about a minute and a half left here. Just give us a quick rundown of the upcoming episodes.

28:55 >> Yeah, and it's it's really exciting, Cameron. You know, we're going to we're going to dig a little bit more into these foundations of wealth and accelerators of wealth. And again, somebody is going to be looking at this and saying, "Well, I've got the foundations done. I do that all the time." That's great. We we want to get you into the accelerators. There may be folks that are in the first or second tier of the foundations. So, it's it's not like a one-size-fits-all. We're going to go through that on the first episode. We're going to then look at what happened in the environment, in the economy. We all know that, you know, the last 6 years, it's been very very

29:30 challenging and volatile, which investors don't typically like, but we've adapted, we've overcome, and we're going to look at what's happened and what's changed, which is going to lead into the next one, which is the new rules of investing. What is What has changed now as a result of of COVID and all of these things that have happened inside of the market?
